Dutch & Co was selected by WAMCO to design, engineer, supply, and construct a 60.95 kWp rooftop solar PV solution to follow up on WAMCO’s strive to include green, clean, and sustainable energy to its energy mix and to reduce the carbon footprint of the company.
The new rooftop solar installation is projected to generate over 92,000 kWh of green, stable, and clean electricity in its first year of operation, and over 2,174,848 kWh throughout its lifetime. Additionally, it will reduce WAMCO’s carbon footprint by 1,380 tons of CO2 emissions.
Commenting on the new development, Mr. Frank Bednar, Managing Director of WAMCO, said, “In-line with WAMCO’s strategy to gradually change the energy mix by adding renewable (“green”) power generation, Management has decided to purchase a Solar Power Plant. Once it is operational, it is expected to help the company to make significant savings in electricity costs and to support Ghana in achieving its carbon dioxide emission targets.”
Mr. Herbert Friese, General Manager of Dutch & Co, added, “We are very pleased to be working with the WAMCO team in meeting their climate goals and are proud of the outcome of this first phase of Solar PV at their facility. We are already working on further implementation of energy-efficient and renewable energy solutions for WAMCO.”
